Rahul Dravid.
The game CRICKET can be new to a greater percentage of the population on earth, but no one knows how hard it is playing the game.
“Cricket is played by eleven idiots and watched by 11,000 fools.” – said a great person, but I really wonder, what factors made him feel this.
In the game of cricket, team work is one of the main aspects for victory. The captain of the team is responsible for the team to work together. Though the game needs some individual performances from the players, its one of the most difficult task of the captain to get the team work together rather than improve the skills of an individual.
Not just as a captain, I do admire Rahul Dravid as an individual too. The way he faces tensed moments on the field, the way he handles pressure situations and the way he talks to his team members and motivates them has inspired me a lot. He always leads the team from front, always plays a captain’s knock and he is with every single member of the team, off the field and on the field.
“Jammie” as people call him, started his career in a small town and struggled a lot to get into the national team. He then started his professional career, which was a failure in the beginning. But he later came up facing all the tasks and now he is one of the top rated batsmen in the world of cricket and he stands next to few great all time players. These qualities in him, the never say die attitude and the hard working nature made me a big fan for his game and as an individual. I learnt these few qualities from him and started developing this attitude in me.
Known as “The Wall” and “Mr. Dependable” of cricket, Dravid has always been the root of victories for many games. He is now a threat to the greatest bowlers of all teams. A for sure player in the world XI squad of present players.
