Rahul Dravid.

The game CRICKET can be new to a greater percentage of the population on earth, but no one knows how hard it is playing the game.

“Cricket is played by eleven idiots and watched by 11,000 fools.” – said a great person, but I really wonder, what factors made him feel this.

In the game of cricket, team work is one of the main aspects for victory. The captain of the team is responsible for the team to work together. Though the game needs some individual performances from the players, its one of the most difficult task of the captain to get the team work together rather than improve the skills of an individual.

Not just as a captain, I do admire Rahul Dravid as an individual too. The way he faces tensed moments on the field, the way he handles pressure situations and the way he talks to his team members and motivates them has inspired me a lot. He always leads the team from front, always plays a captain’s knock and he is with every single member of the team, off the field and on the field.

“Jammie” as people call him, started his career in a small town and struggled a lot to get into the national team. He then started his professional career, which was a failure in the beginning. But he later came up facing all the tasks and now he is one of the top rated batsmen in the world of cricket and he stands next to few great all time players. These qualities in him, the never say die attitude and the hard working nature made me a big fan for his game and as an individual. I learnt these few qualities from him and started developing this attitude in me.

Known as “The Wall” and “Mr. Dependable” of cricket, Dravid has always been the root of victories for many games. He is now a threat to the greatest bowlers of all teams. A for sure player in the world XI squad of present players.

Performance of Mobile Web Services using WAP

Internet has helped man a lot in a variety of fields using the web-pages. We need to have an access to a computer in-order to use the internet, but this is not possible every time.
Then comes the generation of mobile phones, which were easy to carry, portable and secured. Implementing the concept of Internet and Web Pages in mobiles is actually the core of this paper.
Web pages offer the user an accessible interface using a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, etc.). Presently there are web pages which are user interface independent.
Due to the hardware and bandwidth limitations such as slow CPU’s, small memories, small displays, cell phones (mobiles) which have an access to internet cannot support all the web pages. Any cell phone has to be G. P. R. S. enabled for it to get an access to the internet through its service provider and it has to be W. A. P. enabled too.
G. P. R. S. → General Packet Radio Service.
W. A. P.→ Wireless Application Protocol.
Integrating web services into mobile devices has major restrictions. Mobile communication systems like the G. P. R. S. and U. M. T. S. , imply limited bandwidth and high latency.
“This paper aims at presenting an alternative solution to access web services from mobile clients using W. A. P., as well as a performance analysis of this solution compared to access visa HTTP from java capable mobiles.”

Mobile Web Services:-
The dependencies of the different technologies used by Web Services are depicted to each other as shown in the figure above using the U. M. L. notation.
To access web services from a mobile phone, a SOAP implementation and a transport implementation are necessary. For this reason, java applications are used because most of the cell phones support JVM. “Currently, two SOAP client implementations for J2ME capable devices are known, Wingfoot SOAP and kSOAP.”
The HTTP and the TCP are not ideal solutions for mobile devices. Hence the Wireless Session Protocol has been developed and is being used.

WAP Transport Implementation :-
The WAP implementation has been mainly split into three parts:
The lower level constructs and determines the octet stream for encoded P. D. U.’s and vice versa. The layer above this sends and receives P. D. U’s to and from the network using U. D. P. packets. The top level conveys SOAP data from the application to the web service and vice versa.
Performance Analysis :-
The factors that affect the performance of a mobile application are mainly the CPU power and main memory with the network of the service provider.
In this context the performance criteria are latency, data transfer volume, memory footprint and CPU power requirements.
Conclusion :-
The performance of the mobile applications is still a main criterion and is still to be improved. The latency and CPU power are a major consideration.

The Prestige

Movie Name: THE PRESTIGE

Location: Hollywood theaters ,St.Joseph, MO, 64506

Directed by: Christopher Nolan

Cast: Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine

Photos: Photo Gallery

My Review: The movie on a whole is GOOD. I don't understand why the director has spoiled the climax. I mean the taking of the last part of the movie hardly impressed me. The way he got the thought for the story line and the way he approached was really great. But still in the end, he did not impress me in the climax.

Hugh Jackman was simply good, so was Christian Bale. From my view, Michael Caine played an important role which was'nt highlighted. As per the story: Hugh who plays Robert Angier, a great magician of his type and time, Christian Bale plays Alfred Borden also known as The Transporter Man in the movie, are both magicians. They start as friends, A Friendship That Turns to Rivalry. A Rivalry that becomes a Battle. And this battle leads to the death of the cast one by one.

Michael Caine who plays Cutter, is the chief organizer of events of a magician under whom Angier and Borden are assistants. He keeps saying one thing through out the movie "Every great Magic trick has three acts behind it:
(1) The Pledge
(2) The Turn
(3) THE PRESTIGE

The pledge is where every magician shows his audience something true. The turn is where he shows something not unique. And when he trys doing this, then comes the "THE PRESTIGE".

Well personally I like the movie a lot, just that the ending(climax) did not impress me a lot.

To know whats there in the movie, you have to check that on the big screen.
